For those wondering how Democrat leaders manage to keep straight faces when calling for a retreat in Iraq after the recent progress in the region, I offer Sen. Russ Feingold of Wisconsin as “Exhibit 1.”In an appearance on “Meet the Press,” Feingold said he was “shocked” by the president’s response to the calls for a surrender – he calls it a withdrawal – “in light of the November election.” Read the rest of this entry »

My father-in-law, John Chastain, had the privilege of observing one of America’s greatest inventors. As a young man, he worked at a grocery store in Ft. Myers, Fla., where Thomas Edison had a winter home.Pop, as we affectionately called him, would tell us about seeing Edison in his twilight years going to and from his laboratory in the wee hours of the morning, as he made his way to the grocery store to sweep the floors and restock the shelves before customers arrived. Come on in, Fred, The water’s fine

I am disappointed that the Fourth of July week came and went without an announcement from Fred Thompson that he has, indeed, entered the race to become the next president. Fred’s still testing the water. In the Rasmussen poll, Fred already is leading the entire GOP field as an “unannounced” candidate.

What to do with 12-20 million Illegals

Those hellbent on ramming a hugely unpopular amnesty bill down our throats have one question that stops most of their otherwise articulate constituents in their tracts:

And what would you do with the 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants now living in this country?
