Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” addresses this very subject and the effect of those who contribute to society going on strike. I read this in college over 20 years ago, and probably need to go back and reread it since it seems particularly relevant.

America seems to be in a free fall and Obama is leading the race to the cliff edge.
The Obama worshipers are blind to the truth.They see only what they want,as in free hand outs blind to the cost that we will all bear.

Jane, I agree with the thrust of your article and am in full agreement that the Obama administration spells the end of America as we know it. Two things, though. I wouldn’t call someone making over 200K a year “the very wealthy”. Sure, the very wealthy make more that but 200K, 210K, 220K a year hardly qualifies. Lumping all those people and salaries into one group called “the very wealthy” is a class warfare trick perpetrated most often by the liberals. I have read enough of your articles to know that you don’t mean it that way but choose your words carefully. You know how devious and misrepresentative the liberals can be.

The other thing is that the people who voted for Obama are not very capable of seeing the big picture. They most likely won’t even notice when they cut a “tax cut” and then they won’t notice when it gets smaller. Additionally, all they care about is Obama’s appearance…that he’s trying to to do the right thing.

Obama is doing what he said he would do. Is anyone surprised.

Oh, I forgot, he also said that he was going to do away with “earmarks”. Maybe the 900+ earmarks in the “stimulus package” was not part of that.

Well said. Basic numbers that EVERYONE can understand. It turns out that Obama is not writing these bills but rather putting a price on them and turning the details of his concept over to a far left liberal to put into words. His campaign promises were vague and non descriptive, dodging those questions every time. Now we know what he had in mind and it is truly a redistribution of American wealth. After 20 years of brainwashing by Jeremiah Wright, Obama has learned to hate the wealth of this country, with the exception of the political aristocracy in DC, and is punishing those who helped make this country great – the providers of jobs. What’s next?

In law enforcement there is a saying, “The community gets the police department it deserves”. The same applies to nations that get the government they deserve.

Jane, it is not so much President Obama that bothers me, it is the mentality of the people who voted for him.
