Blame it on “Big Oil”

The price of gasoline has everyone worried.

Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and John McCain want to suspend the federal gas tax during the summer. Clinton wants to pay for it by imposing a windfall profits tax on “Big Oil” while her Democratic rival, Barack Obama, says that would exacerbate the problem. He thinks the tax holiday would encourage evil Big Oil to raise prices even more, which would inflict greater pain on consumers when the holiday expires.

While I welcome any kind of tax relief– however brief – the attempt to blame rising gas prices on windfall profit-taking by the big oil companies is misplaced.

If that were the case, the answer to solving your personal energy crisis would be simple. Buy oil company stocks! Then, any rise in gas prices would be offset by the profits in your portfolio. Continue reading “Blame it on “Big Oil””

When Wright is Wrong

Finally, Barack Obama was forced to admit that Wright is wrong!

For a New York minute, I actually found myself feeling sorry for Obama, who got blind-sided Monday at the National Press Club by his arrogant former pastor. That’s the kind of mesmerizing effect Obama has on people.

I didn’t swoon, mind you. When I found myself getting light-headed and my mind numbing, I reached for the antidote, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, Obama’s racially-charged autobiography that was written long before any thought of running for political office popped into his head or any of Tony Rezko’s money made that thought viable. Why Hillary must go!

I’ve made the case that Hillary Clinton should be disqualified from running for president. She’s already had her eight years. Two full terms as the nation’s co-president is enough, more than enough.

Still, some Americans can’t imagine Democrat politics without Hillary. They need to get over it. She’s a bad habit like smoking, doing drugs or chewing your fingernails.

For those with extremely short memories (or no brains at all) here are some other reasons why Hillary Clinton should not be considered for the highest office in our land. Continue reading “Why Hillary must go!”

Bill or Hill? Who really ran the Clinton Administration?

In the Democrat primary, the question of experience keeps coming up. Should Hillary’s White House experience count when it comes to the presidency?

Yes, absolutely!

That’s because Hillary was first lady in name only. Evidence suggests it was Hillary, not Bill, who ran the administration. She was the woMAN behind the curtain in the Clinton White House. Continue reading “Bill or Hill? Who really ran the Clinton Administration?”

Obama’s Comments as troubling as those of his Pastor

Barack Obama wants us to believe that he slept through 20 years of angry venom spewed out by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright from the pulpit of his church. Obama’s larger task will be to convince us that he was asleep while writing parts of his first book, Dreams from My Father. Continue reading “Obama’s Comments as troubling as those of his Pastor”

The story behind Obama’s rise to power

Have you ever wondered how a little known state legislator, who got his lunch handed to him in 2000 when he ran for a congressional seat, managed to become a U.S. Senator in four short years, and a presidential contender in eight?

You might say that there are 435 senators-in-waiting in the U.S. House of Representatives, all biding their time for a shot at becoming one of the 100 most important lawmakers in this country.  Some have been trying for years to find a way to make the jump to the elite upper chamber of Congress  So just how, exactly, did Barack Obama manage to pull off this feat? Continue reading “The story behind Obama’s rise to power”

I am Woman hear me Whine!

Thanks to Hillary Rodham Clinton, Helen Reddy will have to go back and rewrite the feminist’s theme song she penned in the early 70s. “I am Woman Hear Me Roar” obviously doesn’t cut it anymore.

With her back against the wall before the Democrat presidential primary in New Hampshire, Hillary cried. With her back against the wall in Texas, she whined. Continue reading “I am Woman hear me Whine!”

Don’t Buy the Cookies!

I used to dread this time of year. In the month of March, Girl Scouts are out in force in their smart little green and brown uniforms selling cookies. There was a time I would buy a box from every girl I encountered as a payback for my positive scouting experience.

However, buying that box of cookies now presents a moral dilemma as the Girl Scouts have become a training ground for the left-wing feminist agenda.

How McCain can woo Conservatives AND keep Independents

While conservatives were holding the line they drew in the sand to keep the very liberal Rudy Giuliani from gaining the Republican nomination, John McCain did an end run around us. While I, like Mike Huckabee, believe in miracles, it appears we will be stuck with McCain, warts and all.

In short, as president, he will do a lot less damage to the country than Hillary or Obama and most conservatives like me will end up voting for him, but we are not happy about it.

That kind of lukewarm response is not likely to get him elected. In order to win, he needs the party faithful to give until it hurts and work until they drop in order to get out the vote. Continue reading “How McCain can woo Conservatives AND keep Independents”
