What Everyone Should Know about Iraq

“Phased withdrawal” and “troop caps” are euphemisms for “retreat and defeat” in Iraq. In recent years, U.S. withdrawals have become an all too familiar pattern for the United States: Vietnam, Beirut and Somalia. This behavior has empowered the radical forces seeking to destroy us.Iraq is the most deadly battlefield on which the war on terror is being fought. On one side are the extremists sponsored by Iran and Syria. On the other side are the moderates and those favoring democracy in the fledgling government backed up by United States troops. Run, Tom, Run!

He once received a call from Bush political strategist Karl Rove instructing him “never again to darken the doorstep of the White House.” Now, he is laying the groundwork to live there.Tom Tancredo is not a household word. He doesn’t have movie star good looks or a big, fat checkbook; nor has he spent the bulk of his free time as a congressman attending fund-raisers for other GOP candidates so that he can call in his chits – little IOUs for political endorsements.

The Minimum-Wage Charade

Democrats in the House of Representatives have an ambitious list of proposals they will try to ram through in their first 100 hours at the controls. While some are worthwhile, even laudable, others are counterproductive. However, the one proposal that is most likely to pass both houses of Congress and be signed into law by President Bush – raising the minimum wage – represents the worst kind of political pandering.
