I Can’t Believe I’m Doing This (Defending two left-wing Democrats)

As an unabashed conservative, I’ve always considered myself to be fair-minded and rather independent, voting for the best candidate available for an office whether he or she is a Republican or Democrat.  I’ll admit I haven’t voted for many Democrats since they began drifting further to left, forcing out conservatives in their ranks.

However, be that as it may, I simply cannot sit idly by and see the malicious, if not ridiculous, attacks hurled at a number of the left’s leading politicians.  I cannot fathom the attention devoted to these attacks by the press, in particular the major networks.  Have they no shame, no sense of proportion when they publicize this dribble?  Are they devoid of any real news?  Do they feel they must publicize things that should be reduced to tabloid trash in order to gain ratings?

The attacks against Democrat frontrunner (though undeclared) Joe Biden are ridiculous.  Don’t get me wrong:  I think Joe Biden’s political career, though long, has been mediocre at best.  Frankly, I can’t think of any issues on which we would agree, although there must be some.  Nevertheless, to assert or suggest he is unfit for public office simply because the grandfatherly Biden attempts to show affection for the people he encounters is laughable.

Horrors!  In 2014, he put his hands on the top of the shoulders of, then, State Assemblywoman Lucy Flores!  They man flew all the way to Nevada to support her failed attempt to become the state’s lieutenant governor.  He, gasp,  kissed the top of her head as both were waiting to be introduced at a rally.  Yes, they were in public.  Yes, he is old enough to be her grandfather and probably sensed she was nervous.  Likely, he thought a little peck on the top of her head from the vice-president of the United States was an affirmation that would encourage her to go out there and give the speech of her life.  Flores now says she was “embarrassed, shocked and confused.”

If this was so awful why didn’t Flores come forward while he was still vice-president? Indeed the timing of her revelation is a bit suspect since she is an avid Bernie Sanders supporter and Biden is considered his biggest threat.

Not to be outdone, Amy Lappos, who was a congressional aide to Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn. piled on.  In 2009, she says the, then, 66-year-old Biden rubbed noses with her at a campaign rally.

Shocking!  Lappos was just 33 at the time and has let it be known, in no uncertain terms, that she favors one of the female presidential candidates.

I also find it a bit incredulous that Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax has been fending off calls for his resignation from those within his party because of recent charges leveled at him by Vanessa Tyson, an associate professor at Scripps College in California.   Fifteen years ago, Tyson and Fairfax were working the 2004, Democrat Convention.  After exchanging pleasantries for a couple of days, Fairfax invited Tyson to take a break and go with him to his hotel room to pick up some papers.  According to her statement, once in his hotel room, they began kissing and she lay down on his bed with him.  She didn’t notice that he had removed his belt and trousers enough to expose his private parts.

“He then forced his p – – – –  into my mouth. Utterly shocked and terrified, I tried to move my head away, but could not because his hand was holding down my neck and he was much stronger than me. As I cried and gagged, Mr. Fairfax forced me to perform oral sex on him.”

Please!  You go to a man’s hotel room you barely know.  You lie on his bed kissing and suddenly find yourself in this position?  He was bigger and stronger but, seriously, I can think of two ways any woman could get out of this situation — if she wanted — without applying too much pressure — if you get my drift.

No doubt Tyson felt “shame and humiliation” when he didn’t call but …

Now a second woman, Meredith Watson,  has come forward charging Fairfax with rape while they were “friends” in college which, if it can be substantiated, should be taken seriously.

Fairfax, now married and the father of two, claims both incidents were consensual.

Unfortunately, it has become much too easy to smear a prominent person due to the willingness of the mainstream media to report these stories that belong in the tabloid press.

This trivializes serious charges of rape and sexual abuse and is beneath the dignity of the news media.

  1. I think the ‘Biden Touch’ can make one uncomfortable but, I would shrug it off and move away. I guess the Democrats want a younger guy and this is an attempt to move Biden out. Younger candidates better hide their H.S. Year book along with all copies. Fed up with character assasinations running rampant in the Media and Hard Left.
Ah! Woe is America where did you leave Ethics and tarnish the Star of the Fruited Plain?

    1. Biden’s purposeful or simply ignorant behavior has been dredged out of yesteryear’s swamp and highlighted to alienate his supporters and followers, believable because it’s the Democrats who are primarily doing it. All these and other accusations directed at and among the aspiring Democrat candidates certainly is politically oriented, and patriotically disgusting. John Adams’ classic caution rings evermore true today when he said our Constitution was “made only for a moral and religious (surely intending to read “Christian”) people [and] wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Liked Monica’s comment and her poetic last line.
