“Nothing burger” has become the operative word in Washington of late.  It was used by Democrats to describe the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email scandal and it is now being used by Republicans to describe the investigation into possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign in the 2016 election.

It is only a matter of time until enterprising restauranteurs add it to their menus.  So what is in a nothing burger?  It might appear to be a bun with nothing in between, but a nothing burger on display in the James Comey hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee, was something quite different. Ronald Reagan’s Revenge (Can We shoot down North Korean Missiles?)

The Memorial Day weekend was marred by the news that North Korea fired off another missile and it had landed within a few meters of its intended target,  This was followed by more threats directed at the United States from its deranged dictator Kim Jong Un.

This followed two successful tests of medium to long-range missiles by the rogue state in as many weeks and a simultaneous launch of four missiles on March 6, three of which fell close to Japan, a nation we are bound to protect.

Such launches, and two nuclear tests since January 2016, have been conducted in defiance of U.S. pressure, U.N. resolutions and the threat of more sanctions, which amounted to little more than sending the rebellious, bellicose young leader to bed without dessert. All the Clowns Aren’t in the Circus (Some are on the Bench)

When the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus closed on Sunday it marked the end of an era.  But never fear, those ever-popular clowns are still with us.  They lack the grease paint, rubber noses, and orange hair that made us laugh.  In fact, these clowns aren’t funny at all.  They sit on the federal courts at virtually every level.

Perhaps the best known are the clowns on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals who refused to overturn a federal clown in Seattle who barred President Trump’s travel ban and are now wrestling with essentially the same issue from a clown on the bench in Hawaii involving travel ban number 2.

Independent Counsel? Where’s the Crime?

There are growing calls for an independent counsel or prosecutor to investigate the Trump-Russia connection in the 2016 presidential election.  Everyone, it seems, has in interest in one.

For the media it is more fuel to feed the 24-hour news cycle.

For Democrats, it keeps the idea alive that something beyond their control caused their candidate to lose.  It couldn’t be because Hillary Clinton was deeply flawed, universally disliked, and couldn’t be trusted.  It couldn’t be that their message of higher taxes, bigger government and gender-neutral restrooms just fell flat.  It had to be something more sinister.

Jimmy Kimmel’s Baby (The Lies, the Facts, the Hyperbole)

The word on the street is that Jimmy Kimmel’s tearful story about his newborn’s heart surgery may have saved Obamacare.

“No parent should ever have to decide if they can afford to save their child’s life …It just shouldn’t happen. Not here.”  

It’s time for overpaid comedians like Kimmel and the sycophants who are joining his effort to save the ACA take a look at the cold hard reality of what will happen to the average family with a sick infant if we continue down this road.

Why’d Hillary Lose? Blame Joseph Farah

Hillary Clinton made a lot of mistakes in her quest to become the first woman president of the United States, but her biggest mistake occurred well before she ever ran for public office.  It was back in 1995, when, as the chief strategist during her husband’s tenure in the White House, she grew frustrated that their many scandals where making their way into the press.

As first lady of Arkansas she managed to keep a lid on their misdeeds.  She was well versed in Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and successfully demonized and silenced anyone who dared question their actions.

However, in 1995, things were getting out of hand.  Those of you old enough to have lived through the Clinton years may remember an unguarded moment when she lashed out at the “vast right-wing conspiracy” in a TV interview.   But she was far from done.  I can only imagine the hours she must have put into a 331-page report in which she vented her frustrations in a publication called the “Communication Stream of Conspiracy Commerce.”   It was released during the 1996 presidential campaign by the White House council’s office and the Democratic National Committee.   Continue reading “Why’d Hillary Lose? Is the Resurrection Bunk? Don’t Bet Your Life on It

Another Easter has come and gone.  There are sales on everything from bunnies to bonnets.  For some it’s an opportunity for bargains, others will breathe a sigh of relief.

Easter is the most important, joyous event on the Christian calendar, but for others it’s a reminder of their mortality and they simply can’t wait for the last signs of this annual celebration to be gone.

Cleaning out the Rats in Government

This week my husband smelled a foul odor in the area around his vintage sports car which he keeps under raps in our garage.  He removed the cover and lifted the hood to discover a big fat rat with a nest full of babies.  There is no telling how much damage could have been done if he had not made that discovery and quickly dealt with the problem.

However, this was nothing like the rat we discovered in the California state legislature when it was revealed that Republican Sen. Anthony Cannella of Ceres provided the margin of victory needed by Democrats to pass a $5.2 billion dollar tax increase, ostensibly to repair the states road and bridges.  This included a gasoline tax hike of 12 cents a gallon which hurts poor and middle class working commuters.   It will give California the 2nd highest gas tax in the nation and likely the highest price at the pump due to California’s distance from the major refineries and a requirement by state air regulators that further increases the cost of gasoline for our state.

For his vote, Cannella, the rat, received a half billion payoff for projects in his district that have nothing to do with fixing potholes.  They were designed to give him something to crow about to voters when he seeks higher office in a state heavily dominated by Democrats. Nuclear Option? Call It Constitutional Option

“Elections have consequences.”  (Barack Obama, 2009)

Indeed they do and the most important factor to consider in electing a president of the United States is what kind of justices will he or she appoint to the Supreme Court?  While a president can serve for a mere eight years, a Supreme Court justice holds that job for life (or as long as he or she can sit on the bench without nodding off).

Will the high court consist of justices who will faithfully decide cases based on the Constitution alone (preferred by conservative Republicans) or should the high court be made up of justices who see the Constitution as a “living instrument” that can be changed on a whim (preferred by liberal Democrats)? The Culture vs Biblical Morality (Culture Wins at Least for Now)

Disney’s long-awaited live-action remake of the fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast” broke records on its opening weekend despite the news that, for the first time, the studio is featuring an openly gay character in a film aimed at children.

Disney has been promoting the gay agenda for some time but never crossed this all-important line.  It’s executives have reason to celebrate.  Despite this controversial content that flies in the face of Biblical morality, the film broke the record for best March opening, Best PG rated all-time opening, and scored the 7th biggest launch of all time for any movie.   It pulled in $174.8 million in the U.S. where 70.6 percent of our population identify as Christians and another 1.4 percent adhered to Judaism.

Both the Old and New Testaments in the Bible condemn homosexuality in the strongest terms, as do all the major religions.  However, only one theater in the United States, a drive-in in DeKalb County, Alabama, refused to show the movie.   Continue reading “The Culture vs Biblical Morality (Culture Wins at Least for Now)” →
