It is refreshing to see the rich, powerful and popular people seeking the highest office in our land grovel. We watch in awe, if not amusement, as those familiar faces trudge through ice and snow in Iowa and New Hampshire, eyes red from lack of sleep, hoping to attract one last voter or caucus-goer. The Grinch who stole Christmas Dinner
It has been estimated that the average American gains seven pounds during the holiday season. No wonder! There is a constant stream of delectable goodies that tempt us at preholiday parties. No Christmas would be complete without the annual cookie bake. Candy canes and fudge abound. Fruits and nuts go into Christmas stockings as well as the traditional cake. Then, there is the big feast on December 25.
A Christmas without all that food is hard to imagine. However, those who lived through the Great Depression know that, during the 1930s, many people in this country were without adequate nutrition. They went to bed hungry — not just on Christmas — but all though the year.

Why President Giuliani is my WORST Nightmare
If Rudy Giuliani is the Republican presidential nominee, I will follow James Dobson and walk away from the Republican Party rather than vote for a promise breaking, serial philandering, pro-gay rights, pro-abortion rights, anti-gun liberal who happened to be at the right place at the right time on 9-11.

Last week, Georgia Governor Sonny Purdue held a prayer vigil in front of the state’s capitol to ask God for rain. The media had a field day. He was the subject of much ridicule and scorn – for a day. The next day it rained.

Air around Capitol is thick with Pork
This is the time to watch your representatives in Washington. If you will pay attention to these people for the remaining weeks this year, you could save your country billions of dollars and knock thousands off your tax bill for years to come.
The new fiscal year began on October 1 and the new Democrat-led Congress is just now getting around to passing the 12 appropriations bills that make up the federal budget.
Congress traditionally is late with this essential task, but this is its worst performance in the last twenty years. The biggest problem is all the rhetoric that was expended by Democrats on how they were going to get a handle on runaway spending — especially those wasteful pork barrel projects that ballooned during the last12 years under Republican rule. What Fred Thompson Needs to Know About the Human Life Amendment
Fred Thompson tripped over the abortion issue in his debut as a presidential candidate on “Meet the Press.”
Host Tim Russert read Thompson the Pro Life Plank from the 2004 Republican Party Platform, which has remained unchanged since the days of Ronald Reagan:
We say the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution. We endorse legislation to make it clear that the Fourteenth amendment’s protections apply to unborn children. Our purpose is to have legislative and judicial protection of that right against those who perform abortions.
Russert then asked Thompson,
Could you run as a candidate on that platform, promising a human life amendment banning all abortions?

How Environmentalists fanned California fires
Fire! It’s one of the most dreaded words in drought-stricken, wind-prone California.Eleven days ago, this word echoed through the small Bible study that had gathered at my home. That Sunday morning, the Santa Ana winds had arrived, as predicted. As night fell, the force of these winds was unusually strong and black smoke rose from a nearby hill.
Phone calls were placed to neighbors whose homes were located high enough to pinpoint the location of the unwelcome intruder.
In the days that followed, more than 500,000 acres would burn – an area more than twice the size of New York City. Three hundred thousand people would flee their homes with little more than the clothes on their backs. Some 3,000 structures would burn to the ground. What could be wrong with a treaty governing the oceans championed by President George W. Bush, the secretary of the Navy and the overwhelming majority of the members of both political parties who make up the Senate Foreign Relations Committee?Everything!
Just as the president was leading us down the wrong path on immigration, he is leading us down the wrong path by asking the Senate to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (better known as the Law of the Sea Treaty, or LOST).
