Leftists have steadfastly argued that first ladies of the United States are off limits to public criticism even when they jump off their protected pedestals, move into the West Wing and dive into the muck and mire of political issues, even when they hurl hateful insults at political opponents, dress like a tramp and, yes, even when they openly criticize our country. These same leftists have turned on the afterburners in an attempt to demonize Melania Trump.
The Twitter storm that occurred over our current first lady’s appearance in Melbourne, Florida, last weekend was especially vile.
It not only showed a lack of character of those who took to the Internet to criticize her, but exposed the feminist movement to be as phony as all those fake ID’s used by illegal aliens to take jobs that should have gone to our citizens and those immigrants who have played by the rules.
Where are all those feminists who were there to defend Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama from such attacks? They were AWOL. Too busy. They were out in the streets demonstrating against better and more affordable health care, a leaner more efficient federal government, choice in education and extreme vetting for immigrants seeking to enter the country from terrorist countries.
Now, I don’t know Malania Trump, but so far she has conducted herself well. She always appears polite and gracious, dressing modestly, never calling undue attention to herself. In every area of her deportment she has shown respect for the country and to the office now held by her husband.
The thing that seems to have really ticked off the radical left is that Mrs. Trump dared to lead those assembled in “The Lord’s Prayer,” before making her brief comments.
Melania starts the dictatorship rally with the Lord’s Prayer? NOT EVERY AMERICAN IS CHRISTIAN!!!! Country over party. pic.twitter.com/CX9MxvP915

This is true, not everyone is Christian, but I didn’t see any jackbooted thugs arresting those who refused to participate. Funny thing. I didn’t see anyone without his or her head bowed. I’m sure there must have been some who didn’t care to join in the prayer, but they obviously weren’t punished or chastised by those who did. Had that happened the Internet and the mainstream media would still be buzzing about it.
As if that were not enough, some even questioned her faith because the first lady chose to read the prayer. This is understandable since English is not her native language and there are several different versions of the prayer that are in use. Is it “forgive us our ‘trespasses’ or ‘debts’”? I always find myself hesitating over that line when in a new church or environment. Nevertheless, Nicole piled on.
I could recite the Our Father backwards, drugged with a gun to my head. If you need to read this prayer, you’re not Christian (re: Melania).
To add insult to injury, some among the inclusive, pro-immigrant Democrat party faithful continued to make fun of the first lady’s Slovenian accent.
With an hour’s practice I could probably say the Lord’s Prayer better in Slovene than Melania Trump does it in English.
I’m sure you could Adrian, but then try it in all six languages spoken by our first lady.
Why would anyone stoop to criticize someone who has come to this country and learned our language for speaking with an accent? After all, it’s the liberals who have fought to have the children of immigrants taught in their native languages instead of being “mainstreamed” into English. Is that so they can control them?
Did anyone criticize Khizr Khan, the Pakistani immigrant who used the dead body of his son who was killed in Iraq as a human shield to hurl fire at the Republican presidential nominee at the Democratic Convention, for his accent? Khan has been in the United States for 37 years and has a law degree.
As for all those now silent feminists who are supposed to be all about a woman’s choices, why are they not defending this immigrant who overcame the odds, had an extraordinarily successful career, but gave it up in order to fully support her husband and raise their son without the assistance of nannies?
Obviously, they don’t believe in a woman having choices at all unless it is what they define as “choice.” Perhaps if Melanie were a Muslim, atheist or a transsexual, had an abortion and ran down her adopted country, then they would step up to defend her.
