Surprise, Surprise, Teachers’ Union Endorses Obama

The bumbling, vice president who was put in charge of:

  • touting the administration’s record on transparency (his speeches are often off-limits to the press)
  • ensuring that the $787-billion stimulus spending was done wisely (cost taxpayers $278,000 per job)
  • holding fund raisers to help Democrat Party keep control of the House of Representatives (GOP now holds a 48-seat advantage)
  • reaching a budget compromise last winter (veep got rolled, Bush tax cuts were extended)
  • getting a solution to the debt ceiling crisis (don’t hold your breath)

finally won one! Continue reading “Surprise, Surprise, Teachers’ Union Endorses Obama”

Who is Raining on Your Memorial Day Parade?

The Memorial Day weekend traditionally has been the first getaway weekend of the summer.  A chance to kick back, take a road trip or hop or plane and to visit relatives.  Not this year.

It 2008, when the price of gasoline began to approach $4 a gallon, the Smiths complained that they had to take out a second mortgage on the old homestead just to fill up the family car.  In 2011, as gasoline prices topped $4 a gallon, the Smiths are upside down on their mortgage(s).  Dad is working two part-time jobs and still doesn’t make what he did at the full-time job he lost when his company was downsized.  There is no more wiggle room.  The Smiths, like millions of other Americans, will be staying home this Memorial Day weekend. Obama’s kinder, gentler “Death Panels”

Truth is in short supply in Washington.

That is why recent statements made by Donald Berwick, President Obama’s Nominee to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, are both refreshing and chilling.

Here’s what Dr. Berwick had to say in a 2009 interview with Biotechnology Healthcare:

“The decision is not whether or not we will ration care – the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.” Continue reading “Obama’s kinder, gentler “Death Panels””

Protect Your Military

Have you taken the time to thank a soldier, sailor, airman or Marine for their service to our country lately?

We owe so much to our all-volunteer force.   There is no other job that requires this kind of selfless dedication and courage.  We need the military and now the men and women on active duty need us to do something for them they cannot do for themselves.  Continue reading “Protect Your Military”

Obama’s Christmas Stocking

Every Christmas, stockings are hung by the chimney with care, with the anticipation that each stocking owner will be properly rewarded for his or her behavior over the past year.    What will President Barack Obama get this Christmas?  If this citizen were Santa he would receive:

  • A lump of coal for using our economy, which had begun to stabilize when he took office,  as an excuse to pass a so-called $787 billion stimulus bill, which funded every big government program on the liberals’ wish list.

“Cash for Clunkers” RIP

The Cash for Clunkers program has come and gone and if you think RIP stands for Rest in Peace, think again.  It’s just plain old “rip” as in rip-off, a reverse Robin Hood, a giant hoax perpetrated on we poor saps known as taxpayers.

The final data is in.  Some  690,114 cars were sold that were subsidized by “we the people” to the tune of $2.877 billion dollars plus the cost of servicing the additional debt.  Our country is broke, remember?

The Obama Administration called the program “wildly successful.”   There is something seriously wrong with this picture.    Continue reading ““Cash for Clunkers” RIP”

Obamacare: Throw Mamma from the Train!

Obama is out pushing a health care reform bill he hasn’t read and guaranteeing that it will offer

•    lower cost
•    promote choice
•    cover everyone
•    be more efficient
•    won’t increase the deficit
•    give free ice cream

Okay, I admit that I lied about that last part if you will acknowledge that Obama simply cannot achieve the other five goals without drastically lowering the amount and quality of the healthcare that Americans now receive and have come to expect.

All is NOT Lost!

So much for the kind of government promised by Barack Obama where citizens have a full five days to review and comment on all non emergency bills on the White House website before they are signed into law! Not only did “we the people” not have an adequate means or opportunity to review the so-call economic stimulus bill, our representatives in Congress did not have that opportunity. My Favorite Obama Pick

I don’t have a lot in common with liberals.  They see government as the solution to every problem: I see government as the problem.   Therefore, I watched with some trepidation as the president-elect assembled a team of “experts,” who will be whispering in his ear, guiding his every move for the next few years.

It was tantamount to watching a two-year-old stack blocks.   You know that ragged tower is going to crumble, but how high will it go before it falls?   Which block will be the tipping point and how many will be left standing in the end? Continue reading “My Favorite Obama Pick”
