On Monday, Barack Obama’s U.S. apology tour, stopped in Turkey where he caused quite a stir. In a press conference, in a shaky attempt to be all things to all people, he said this: “Although we have a very large Christian population, we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values.” Continue reading “Is the U.S. A Christian Nation?”
The Marriage of China and the U.S. (Till Debt do us Part)
It’s like a bad marriage. The U.S. and China are tied to each other in more than a trillion ways. For the time being, both endure this partnership for the sake of their dependents and their own well-being.
The two countries will make nice today at the World Economic Summit in London. They will smile at each other through clenched teeth, but the dislike and distrust between the two are painfully obvious. They fool no one. Continue reading “The Marriage of China and the U.S. (Till Debt do us Part)”
Enough!
The White House and the Democrat Congress are preparing to ram Obama’s massive budget blueprint down our throats as early as next week.
What are you going to do about it? Continue reading “Enough!”
The Bernie Madoffs in Congress (Is one representing you?)
Everyone hates Bernie Madoff. He is the new face of what’s wrong in America. He has been called an evil monster but, according to his victims, these words are inadequate.
You have to hand it to Madoff. He lived large – no, huge – off this Ponzi scheme. It was great while it lasted and no one, including Madoff, thought it would go on as long as it did Continue reading “The Bernie Madoffs in Congress (Is one representing you?)”
Girl Scouts 97th Birthday (Nothing to Celebrate)
Wisdom and respect are the normal benefits of the aging process. Not so with the Girl Scouts USA! As the Girl Scouts turn 97 today, there is not much to celebrate. Membership is down. Cookie sales have dwindled and they are floundering around trying to be relevant.
Yes, the GSUSA is dumping the “dorky” vests and “singalongs” around the campfire (the words of others, not my own) in an effort to be “cool” and “edgy.” It’s sad, really, like a senior citizen shopping for a bikini and getting a tattoo in an effort to be noticed. About Your Tax Cut
“A chicken in every pot” is the temptation waved under the noses of voters by politicians of every political stripe. It’s an alluring promise. Little wonder that the average life of a democracy is a mere 200 years.
Americans are smart enough to realize that there is no such thing as something for nothing. Barack Obama was elected on the idea that he was going to reward 95 percent of us at the expense of the top 2 percent, those making more than $200,000 per year. What could be wrong with that?
It was an easy sell to the 95 percent on the receiving end of that promise. Now it’s time to deliver the goods in the form of tax cuts for all but the very wealthy.
So, just how much is that tax cut really worth? Continue reading “About Your Tax Cut”
Obama’s Plan to Stimulate Poverty
For argument’s sake, let’s say that Obama’s plan to save the economy by raising taxes on the most productive segments of our society, creating millions of useless government jobs, and subsidizing windmills and failing companies actually works. In a year or two, the country is experiencing a period of economic growth. The stock market is skyrocketing. Home sales are booming and jobs are plentiful. Will we have more or fewer people on welfare?
The answer would appear to be obvious: “Why fewer, of course.” Most reasonable people would expect that to be the goal, but if that is your final answer, you would be wrong. Continue reading “Obama’s Plan to Stimulate Poverty”
All is NOT Lost!
So much for the kind of government promised by Barack Obama where citizens have a full five days to review and comment on all non emergency bills on the White House website before they are signed into law! Not only did “we the people” not have an adequate means or opportunity to review the so-call economic stimulus bill, our representatives in Congress did not have that opportunity. Continue reading “All is NOT Lost!”
Barack Obama: The First “Feminist” President
If you think Barack Obama is the first black president, you have a short memory.
In 1993, Bill Clinton was enshrined by the “left” as the first black president and the left never makes a mistake, at least one it will admit.
Nevertheless, Barack Obama has made his mark on history. He’s the first “feminist” president. Continue reading “Barack Obama: The First “Feminist” President”
Senate Surgeon takes Scalpel to Stimulus
Just when you thought it was impossible to stop the Obama Administration and Congress from going on an uncontrolled spending spree with our tax dollars, a lowly junior senator with no political aspirations has stepped up to defend us.
While Republicans have offered an alternate to the so-called economic stimulus bill that has zero chance of being enacted, and the infamous gang of 14 moderates (some say 20) is meeting to come up with a pork-lite compromise, Tom Coburn, the only practicing doctor in the United States Senate, is doing what he does best, taking a scalpel to the massive bill in an effort to carve it down to size.
You might say that Dr. Coburn is preforming a spendingectomy. Continue reading “Senate Surgeon takes Scalpel to Stimulus”
