Two Value Systems – Two Economic Systems (Choose Wisely)

My last column brought out some crazies, largely due to the attention-catching headline that included Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest member of Congress.  For the record, columnists do not write headlines.  That is the job of the editor or another specialist.

That column really was’t about Ocasio-Cortez, although the young do tend to believe that the world revolves around them.  Nevertheless, she received a lot of publicity, largely from lazy writers and political pundits parroting her Twitter remarks.   I was called a neanderthal, dumb, delusional, a tool of the patriarchy, racist, bigot and a number of other names I cannot mention here.

Why is it that liberals feel it is necessary to call you names when they disagree with you politically? Continue reading “Two Value Systems – Two Economic Systems (Choose Wisely)”

Just Say “NO Thank You” to IWD, Girl Scouts and Their Cookies

This is the week where real feminists separate from their radical counterparts.  For the uninformed, March 8, is officially International Women’s Day, but it is the catalyst for weeklong events held throughout this country and around the world.   Sounds harmless, if not downright inspiring to many unsuspecting women and girls who want to celebrate the right to be all that they can be.  Unfortunately, it comes with a lot of baggage you may not want for your daughter or yourself.

This annual event was begun in 1909 in New York by the Socialist Party of America.  In 1917, it became a national holiday in Russia and was primarily celebrated by the socialist movement and communist countries until 1975 when it was embraced by the United Nations. Are You Man (Woman) Enough to Say “No” to Girl Scout Cookies (Be Warned; Be Informed; Be Ready)

Are you man (or woman) enough to say “No” to a child?

Before you answer this question consider this:  When liberals try to justify more government spending they trot out our youth.  “Do it (whatever ill-conceived big government program they are promoting) for the children boohoo, sob, sob!

This makes conservative legislators quake in their boots.  It is only a matter of time before, they cave in to this pressure.  I offer our 17 trillion dollar national debt as Exhibit A.

Now, bring it down to a personal level.  It is one thing to say “No” to a little boy.  It is quite another to say “No” to a precious little girl, looking up at you with those beautiful, big, expectant eyes.

That’s what you will be up against if you join — and you should —  the boycott against Girl Scout cookies begun by Pro-Life Waco and now joined by countless pro-life and pro-family organizations. Sample Letter to Girl Scout Leaders

February 2019

Dear Girl Scout Leader:

Thank you for being involved in the important process of training our next generation.

I am sorry that I cannot buy the cookies but I am interested in supporting your troop.  In fact I am willing to donate  $        to you troop to help you transition to American Heritage Girls, which was begun in 1995 by dedicated Girl Scout leaders like yourself who were disturbed by the changes that had taken place in the national organization and discovered there was no way to change the organization from within.  Continue reading “Sample Letter to Girl Scout Leaders”

Ten Best Conservative New Year’s Resolutions

Feeling a little guilty because you were caught up in the holiday rush and failed to make New Year’s resolutions?   It’s not too late.   January is a time to reassess, revitalize and invest in some worthwhile habits that will improve your life and the lives of those around you.

Many of my conservative friends tell me they have stopped watching the news.  It’s just too depressing.  With Obama as president, liberals in control of the Senate and Republican leaders in the House quaking in their boots, it looks as if the country will continue to decline as we complete the long, slow march toward socialism.  Can anything stop it?  Many conservatives have just given up. The Bullies Won

I do not hate anyone. (It seems silly to have to preface my remarks with that statement but these are strange times.)  I do hate bad behavior.  That includes lying, name-calling, intimidation and bullying which have become hallmarks of gay rights activists.

Last week, the Boy Scouts of America abandoned the time-honored principles enshrined in the oath and laws and gave in to these bullies when leadership skillfully manipulated its voting delegates to approve a resolution to admit openly gay Scouts into its ranks.

The oath includes a “duty to God” and a pledge to keep oneself “morally straight.”  The laws proclaim that a Scout is — among other things — obedient, reverent, loyal and brave.  The BSA leadership is none of the above.  Therefore, the Scouts’ ability to lead young boys to become responsible God-fearing young men with these qualities has been hopelessly compromised.

Adolf Hitler introduced the principle of winning the battle of the mind with the “Big Lie.” in his book “Mein Kampf.”

“ . . . the most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly and with unflagging attention.  It must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.  Here, as so often in the world, persistence is the first and most important requirement for success.” Continue reading “The Bullies Won”

Boy Scouts follow Girl Scouts Downhill (Last of a Three-Part Series)

There is a reason that the Boy Scouts of America have not partnered with the Girl Scouts USA.  The two organizations would appear to be natural affiliates but at their core, they are now miles apart.  That may be about to change.

The issue that has divided them are the principles on which the two organizations were founded:  A belief in God and a pledge to abide by the moral truths that are revealed in His Word.

  •  In the 70’s, the Girl Scouts put feminist icon Betty Friedan on its national governing board. It wasn’t long before the Girl Scouts began purging its materials of all positive references to homemakers.
  •  In 1980, the organizations changed its policy on homosexuality and welcomed lesbians as scouts and troop leaders.
  • In 1993, the Girl Scouts took aim at the Creator himself, making God an option by inserting an asterisk by the word “God” in the Promise.

Due to public outrage and loss of enrollment, that asterisk was removed from the latest Girl Scout Handbook.  Don’t be fooled.  Instead, girls are simply being instructed that when reciting the Promise they are “free to substitute their own wording for God’”  In other words, a girl is free to pledge to do her duty to herself as any good atheist would.   Continue reading “Boy Scouts follow Girl Scouts Downhill (Last of a Three-Part Series)”

The Boot Camp for Feminists

If someone approaches you in a shopping center parking lot and asks you to finance a boot camp for radical feminists, would you

a) laugh, thinking it was a joke?

b) respond, “You’ve got to be kidding”?

c) run the other way?

Now let’s put some meat on the bones of the solicitor: a little girl, somewhere between the ages of five to seventeen.  She is looking up at you, smiling sweetly with a look of expectation.  She is dressed in a Daisy, Brownie or Girl Scout uniform –yes, a Girl Scout uniform!

Long considered a paragon of virtue and as American as apple pie, in the last decades the Girl Scouts have taken a sharp left turn.  Today’s Girl Scouts have lost the traditional moorings established by Juliette Low, and now mirror the ideals of Gloria Steinem.   Continue reading “The Boot Camp for Feminists”

Girl Scouts 97th Birthday (Nothing to Celebrate)

Wisdom and respect are the normal benefits of the aging process.  Not so with the Girl Scouts USA!  As the Girl Scouts turn 97 today, there is not much to celebrate.  Membership is down. Cookie sales have dwindled and they are floundering around trying to be relevant.

Yes, the GSUSA is dumping the “dorky” vests and “singalongs” around the campfire (the words of others, not my own) in an effort to be “cool” and “edgy.”   It’s sad, really, like a senior citizen shopping for a bikini and getting a tattoo in an effort to be noticed.  Continue reading “Girl Scouts 97th Birthday (Nothing to Celebrate)”

Girl Scouts go hard-left and downhill

“Change” was the buzz word for the Obama campaign. Change was also the buzz word at the 51st Girl Scout National Council Session and Convention held earlier this month in Indianapolis, Indiana. It stands as further proof that change is not always for the better.

From the opening ceremony to the exhibitors in the convention hall, it is clear that the direction the Girl Scouts has chosen is a hard left, downhill. Continue reading “Girl Scouts go hard-left and downhill”
