Sarah, Who?

Sarah Palin.  The very mention of her name invokes a strong response from almost everyone.  You either love her or hate her.  (Count me in the former category.)  Until now, Palin has been sucking up all the oxygen in the media with her “Will-I-Run-or-Will-I-Not” bus tour.

I confess that since the 2008 election, I have been disappointed with the former Alaska governor.  I was sure that when she was free from the McCain campaign and could finally speak for herself, she would lose the generalities that dominate political speech and dazzle us with specifics.    I’m still waiting.   In short, I admire what she has accomplished but I hope she doesn’t run.

I felt much the same way about Michele Bachmann.   I hoped she would not run . . . until around 9:00 Tuesday night. Continue reading “Sarah, Who?”

The ONLY Candidate Who Can fill Huckabee Void

Mike Huckabee’s departure, left many wondering who will fill the void left by the charismatic former governor of Arkansas, whose popularity with social conservatives had him at or near the top of the early polls of possible  GOP presidential candidates.

There is only one person who can do that and then some.  His name is Herman Cain.

Who is Herman Cain?  That was the question people were asking before the first GOP presidential debate on May 5 in South Carolina.

Cain, not only won the debate, if the truth is known, he mopped the floor with his four opponents. Continue reading “The ONLY Candidate Who Can fill Huckabee Void”

Why the GOP Elite Despises Sarah Palin

The GOP was the Grand Old Party.  Now it’s the Gray Old Party and no about of Grecian Formula can hide the obvious.

Somewhere along the way, the GOP adopted an unofficial rule that says you run for office, bring home expensive pork barrel projects to your state, have a few roads and bridges named after you,  campaign for others, and when you are old and gray and have enough political chits to call in, it becomes your turn to be the party’s nominee for president of the United State. Sarah Palin: Dumb like a Fox

She didn’t have time to do Meet the Press or This Week or any of the other big name political shows that are considered a “must” by political insiders. So where was Sarah Palin?

Now we know the answer to that nagging question. She wasn’t breast-feeding Trig, helping the older kids with their homework, learning the latest stump speech or brushing up on issues great and small for the vice-presidential debate. She was shopping till she dropped at Sacks and Neiman Marcus with the GOP’s charge cards. Continue reading “Sarah Palin: Dumb like a Fox”

The Election and the Christian

America is teetering on the brink of economic collapse. Our savings and investments have eroded while the costs of health care and energy are out of control. Our national debt has gone through the roof.

The world is more dangerous than ever. Our borders are no longer defended. Our courts are out of control. A majority of our judges no longer feel bound by the law or the Constitution which has been our plumb line. Instead, they prefer to strike out on their own. Property rights and parental rights have been eroded. The institution of marriage is under attack.

Elections can be a daunting experience for any voter. There are so many issues. The candidates’ positions are often couched in political doublespeak. What’s a voter to do? More important, what’s a Christian to do? Continue reading “The Election and the Christian”

Why Joe the Plumber is more articulate than John McCain

Ever wonder why a guy like Joe the plumber is more articulate on the issues than John McCain, a man who has been a United States senator for 22 years and who won his party’s nomination for president of the United States?

It was maddening to watch McCain in his last debate with Barack Obama. McCain was right on the issues but he couldn’t articulate them, at least not very well. Continue reading “Why Joe the Plumber is more articulate than John McCain”

The ACORN and the Obama Tree

An ACORN doesn’t fall far from the tree so Obama — the big oak on whom the Democrats have pinned their hopes — is trying to kick it as far away as he possibly can.

Ties between Obama and ACORN – the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now – are legion. However, now that ACORN’s part in the sub prime mortgage mess has been exposed and the group’s voter registration programs have become an object of public scorn, the junior senator from Illinois is trying to throw ACORN overboard as he did his former pastor and a laundry list of other unseemly characters. Continue reading “The ACORN and the Obama Tree”

Vote for Barack Obama

Vote for Barack Obama if . . . you want to pay higher taxes.

Obama is claiming that he will not raise taxes on individuals making less than $200,000 per year. However, his plan will punish several hundred thousand small business and family farms that are not incorporated but pay the individual rate. Small business is an important engine that drives our economy and creates jobs. Continue reading “Vote for Barack Obama”

Hey, Sarah: Time to go for the Kill!

The Defenders of Wildlife isn’t the only group gunning for Sarah Palin. The really big cannons will be fired following tonight’s vice-presidential debate and the media elite has its sights squarely on the head of the popular Alaska governor.

Any bobble, no matter how slight, will be in bold headlines tomorrow.

While the mainstream media is willing to overlook major gaffs from Joe Biden, the slightest hesitation from Palin is seen as proof positive that she is the empty-headed, backwoods bimbo from Wasilla it has tried to make her out to be. Continue reading “Hey, Sarah: Time to go for the Kill!”
