Why Obamacare must Go

The first order of business for the new Congress is the repeal of Obamacare.  The American people demand it.  The only people who seem to be happy with Obama’s signature achievement are those who are rich or getting it for free, or nearly free.

Dig a little deeper you will find that the bleeding-heart liberal rich with their on-call concierge physicians or so-called Cadillac plans are the only ones truly happy because they are unaffected.  Those who get Obamacare free through the expansion of Medicaid, or nearly free, have found it is a trap because fewer and fewer doctors are willing to take these patients.  The doctors who do require long waits.  It’s call rationing which is a hallmark of socialized medicine or Obamacare-Lite, as the case may be.

For the average guy or gal, Obamacare has been a disaster.  My cousin Lori is a case in point.  As an adjunct college professor she was informed that she would no longer be eligible for company health benefits for 2017.  The college then offered her the ability to self-pay through Obamacare. The Democrats Terrible, Tumultuous Temper Tantrums

The hallmark of democratic governments is the smooth transition of power from one duly elected leader and duly elected legislature to the next.  Never before in our history have we seen an outgoing president and the leaders of his losing political party so hellbent on tripping up those who will succeed them.

Obama set the stage by inviting the president-elect to the White House for a friendly chat and then snatching the welcome matt right from under his feet as he was leaving the White House.

After jetting off to Hawaii for another luxury vacation, costing taxpayer millions of $$$ ( http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/dec/22/obamas-hawaii-christmas-vacations-cost-taxpayers-3/), it became obvious that Obama left land mines for his successor, hoping they will blow up during some portion of  Trump’s initial stay in the White House.  Between rounds of golf, he gave orders to throw Israel under the bus at the United Nations.  He expelled 35 Russian diplomats.  He used an arcane statue to block oil drilling in much of the Arctic and portions of the Atlantic Ocean in an obvious attempt to keep Trump from making good on his promise to use all available fuel reserves and take actions to allow more off-shore drilling.  He used another arcane statue to grab 1.6 million acres of valuable land in Utah and Nevada, two states that helped put Trump over the top.

Obama is going to extreme lengths to make it difficult for Trump to roll back job killing federal regulations that have been crippling economic growth by releasing hundreds more in the waning days of his administration.  Word Continue reading “The Democrats Terrible, Tumultuous Temper Tantrums”

The Obama Legacy: Broken Promises and Lies

In 2004, Barack Obama came onto the stage at the Democrat National Convention as the party’s candidate to represent Illinois in the U.S. Senate and wowed the country with his keynote address.  Less than three years later, he was campaigning to be president of the United States with a lot of promises and a message of “hope and change.”

Though Obama remains a popular figure, the overwhelming majority believe that he has placed the country on the “wrong track.”  Those who even remember his promises, now know they were empty.

In his final days at the White House, I made a list of his most memorable broken promises or outright lies —  one for each year he was in office.

1.   “If you like the (health care) plan you have, you can keep it.  If you like the doctor you have, you can keep your Continue reading “The Obama Legacy: Broken Promises and Lies”

We Need the Peace of Christmas (But It Is Conditional)

We have entered Christmas week, the most joyous holiday of the year as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ, the one who is called the “Prince of Peace.”

The trees have been trimmed.  Cards have been sent. Presents are being bought and wrapped and familiar carols are being sung like “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.”

And mild and sweet their songs repeat

of peace on earth good will to men.

Peace is something we all want — freedom from worry, a quiet and calm state of mind, agreement and harmony among people.  It’s a word that has become synonymous with Christmastime. Continue reading “We Need the Peace of Christmas (But It Is Conditional)”

Trump Wants to Starve Santa’s Reindeer

In Washington, it’s known as the Rahm Emanuel Rule (Obama’s former chief of staff):   You never miss a chance to convert a crises — even one manufactured to fit a holiday —into political pork for your favorite special interest group.

That’s why the radical environmentalists are out in force this Christmas, scaring children by telling them that reindeer — the kind that Santa uses to pull his magical sleigh on Christmas Eve — are getting weaker due to global warming.

This is not the first time that global warming alarmists have pulled this one out of the hat at Christmas, but this attempt may be the most desperate.  With our country wrapped in a deep freeze and a new team heading the Environmental Protection Agency, some of the money flowing to those trying to prove this theory may dry up if they don’t pull out all the stops.

“Make the public fearful!  Yes!  Scare the children into believing that Trump wants to starve Santa’s reindeer.   Why they are barely able to pull all that weight now!  Who knows what will happen if all the funding flowing to scientists and universities for global warming is cut?  Might have to cancel Christmas!” Continue reading “Trump Wants to Starve Santa’s Reindeer”

Trump as the Nation’s CEO

For the first time in well over a decade there is optimism in the air.  The stock market has reached new highs.  The dollar has regained its strength.  Even the timid Federal Reserve finally appears ready to raise interest rates.

While the latter most certainly will have a short-term negative effect on the stock market, most Americans are beginning to feel that there is a high probability they will be better off than they have been in quite some time.  And this optimism extends well beyond the economy.

The majority now feel that law and order will be restored at our borders, in our cities and throughout our broken judiciary.  We also feel that our nation will regain its self-respect.  We expect the U.S. military to be rebuilt and that, once again, we will have peace through strength. Castro’s Myths Exposed

Fidel Castro is dead and Cubans in the United States and other free countries say, “Good riddance!”    Meanwhile, the good Citizens in this communist state must fake tears and mourn for the dearly departed dictator or there will be hell to pay.

Unfortunately, life will not change for the people of Cuba because of Fidel’s passing for brother Raul has picked up where his evil brother left off.

Nevertheless, I am appalled at how, in the wake of the elder Castro’s death, major networks, even the more conservative Fox News Channel, continue to perpetuate myths about his educational and health care achievements. Continue reading “Castro’s Myths Exposed”

A Day of Thanksgiving (Not Since the Civil War Has Our Nation been so Divided)

Never in my lifetime have I seen so many disgruntled people in this country which has stood as a beacon of hope for oppressed people around the globe.

Our country has withstood a civil war, two world wars, a great depression, the cold war,  terrorist attacks, a housing crisis and numerous recessions but we’ve stood together, as one people, through these difficult times and come out stronger as a result of the trials.

Now it seems we are being torn apart by activists among us who want to separate us by race, gender, religion, ethnic origin, political persuasion and all manner of economic and educational strata for their own selfish ends.   Continue reading “A Day of Thanksgiving (Not Since the Civil War Has Our Nation been so Divided)”

Trump Ties Himself in Knots on “60 Minutes”

In the third presidential debate I found myself screaming at Donald Trump when he addressed Chris Wallace’s questions regarding his Supreme Court appointments.

Trump, I assumed, fell into the litmus test trap when he answered Wallace’s first question on gun rights.  Trump said, “We are going to appoint justices that will feel very strongly about the Second Amendment.”

Trump threw out a another litmus test when Wallace then asked, “Do you want the court, including the justices that you will name, to overturn Roe v. Wade, which includes, in fact, states a woman’s right to abortion?” Continue reading “Trump Ties Himself in Knots on “60 Minutes””

A Victory for the Great Unwashed (Now GOP Leaders must Put Up or Shut Up)

I was born in what was then a deep blue state, into a Democratic family.  Among my kin you were either a Democrat or un-American.  As a youngster I asked my parents, “Why are we Democrats?”  They answered, “Because Democrats are for the working people.”

My parents both worked very hard and so I just accepted that.  When I turned 18, I registered to vote and proudly voted in every election.  I didn’t know anything about the issues, but I voted.  When I became a parent, I began to study the issues and realized that Democrats were not what they seemed.  They supported principles that undermined the working class, small business owners and immigrants who wanted their shot at the American dream.   As the years rolled by, these Democrats took positions that were, well, un-American.

Much to my chagrin, I discovered, that Republicans weren’t much better.  Although, they talked a good ballgame about law and order, the free enterprise system and protecting the rights of the minority by defending the Constitution, they were afraid to make the case for these beliefs.  They were gradually taken over by political correctness and were unwilling to fight for anything for fear of losing their precious seats in Congress and their small grip on what power they had left.
