Hillary Clinton: Worst Government Employee in U.S. History

The U.S. government has far too many overpaid employees who do little or nothing.  Once hired they are virtually impossible to fire.  They can come in, or not.   They can sleep on their desks for the better part of the day and they are protected by a system that, more often than not, rewards failure and punishes accomplishment.

That said, I must offer my apologies to the thousands of sincere, selfless government employees who come in and do their very best for God and country every day in spite of the mess we’ve created for them.

Far worse than the career government employees are some of the 7,000 or so political appointees who serve at the pleasure of the president.  They are completely untouchable.  Many are unqualified for the jobs they now hold and may have little or no knowledge of the agencies that they now control.  Some say that these political appointees lord it over the rank and file who are simply attempting to do their jobs.

Now, let me nominate a woman who should go down as the very worst government employee in U.S. history.    Her name is Hilary Clinton.  Her claim to fame is that she married a charismatic politician and rode his coattails to the White House, to a seat in the U.S. Senate and to the job of Secretary of State. My 2016 Dream Team

I know it’s early, but if I could pick the 2016  nominees for president and vice president out of  a crowded Republican field today, the choice would be easy:  Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina.

My reasoning is simple:  They are the only non-politicians who are worthy of serious consideration for the top job.  The former has already formed an exploratory committee.  The latter is exploring, exploring.

Both have succeeded at the highest levels in the real world: Carson in medicine, Fiorina in business.  Both have management experience, Carson as director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins, the youngest division head in the history of the institution, and Fiorina, who as CEO of  Hewlett-Packard was the first female to head a Fortune 50 company.   Continue reading “My 2016 Dream Team”

Republicans Confront the Big Bad (Iranian) Wolf

Fairy tales are simple lessons for children of good versus evil.  The villain is easy to spot.  Often it’s a big bad wolf.

This week, frustrated Republicans, anxious to prove they are in control of Congress, penned a fairy tale of a letter and sent it to one of the world’s big bad wolves, the country of Iran.  Ostensively, the purpose of the letter was to put Iran’s leaders on notice that any deal they sign with President Barack Obama could expire the day he leaves office.  The real purpose  of the letter was to make us believe they are doing something.

It would be laughable if it were not so pathetic.   Continue reading “Republicans Confront the Big Bad (Iranian) Wolf”

Obama Surrenders to Iran; Boehner Surrenders to Obama

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave John Boehner a lesson in leadership by risking his political career to come here to address a joint session of Congress. In that speech, Netanyahu made a compelling case for our country standing up to Iran over nuclear weapons.

With the Israeli election just two weeks away, Netanyahu faced enormous pressure in Israel and here in the United States from those urging him to stay home. Nevertheless, he threw caution to the wind and used his time to lecture Barack Obama on the dangers of striking a dangerous deal with Iran which will allow that country to remain a hair’s breadth away from becoming a nuclear power and essentially get nothing in return.

Unfortunately, this lesson was lost on Boehner. Shortly after Netanyahu left the House Chamber, Boehner offered his unconditional surrender to Barack Obama over his illegal amnesty and, in return, got nothing, nada, zilch! Continue reading “Obama Surrenders to Iran; Boehner Surrenders to Obama”

The Power of One

Much has been written about the power of one.  One person can literally change the world.  Most of us look at such individuals as exceptional people, those blessed with a great talent or skill.  We tell ourselves, “Certainly, this doesn’t apply to people like me.”

We’re full of excuses like I’m too young or too old or too busy.  Perhaps we hesitate because our perspective is simply too large.  What if we didn’t set out to change the world, just the world around us.

Recently, I was moved by reports from two individuals, one who could be classified too young, the other too old. Continue reading “The Power of One”

McConnell to Newbies: Drop Dead!

There are twelve new faces in the Republican Senate caucus this year.  Each won a hard-fought victory.

They all made big promises on the road to Washington which they expected to keep.

Without exception, all made definitive statements on the problem of illegal immigration and the president’s plan to create amnesty for millions with the stroke of his pen.   This is a good time to review some of the statements made before and immediately after their elections:

Shelly Capito (R-W.V.) “The president does not have the constitutional authority to grant amnesty to millions of people who have broken the law by entering our country illegally. President Obama’s executive action on immigration is wrong and violates the responsibility of Congress to write and pass laws as outlined in our Constitution. (Facebook posting December 4, 2014)

Bill Cassidy (R-La.) “We must stop Obama … As your senator, I will fight his amnesty plan. Your tax dollars should benefit you, not those here illegally.”  (On-line campaign ad) Continue reading “McConnell to Newbies: Drop Dead!”

Voters: Caught between a Democrat Rock and a Repubican Soft-Place

In the run-up to the November election President Obama rightfully said that he wasn’t on the ballot but his policies were.  Voters responded and sent a strong message against those policies by kicking out a large number of Democrat office holders and putting Republicans in control of Congress.

It wasn’t because Republicans had a strong message.  It was because the individual candidates running against those ousted Democrats all voiced their opposition to Obamacare and his illegal executive action granting amnesty to millions of alien lawbreakers.

Three months have passed since that message was sent and voters now find themselves caught between a Democrat rock and a Republican soft-place.   Democrats have no power, but when the issue of Obama’s amnesty came up in the Senate, they put up a united front to shield the president from having to veto a popular measure — the bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security sans funding for amnesty.

When that happened, Republicans, who have all the power,  grabbed their pacifiers and blankies and went into their soft-place hidey-holes.   Continue reading “Voters: Caught between a Democrat Rock and a Repubican Soft-Place”

Where the Rubber Meets the Road (On Illegal Immigration)

This is the month the rubber will meet the road when it comes to illegal immigration.  Does the new Republican-controlled Congress mean what it says on this subject or is it all a political game?

This month we will find out if the Republican-controlled Senate will approve a radical left-wing ideologue as attorney general.  In testimony before the Judiciary Committee Loretta Lynch let it be known that she has no intention of enforcing our immigration laws.

This is also the month that we will find out if Congress will defund Obama’s illegal amnesty.

Make no mistake.  Republicans are in complete control  of Congress and they have the support of the overwhelming majority of the public on this issue, but will they hold the line on illegal immigration or will they cave in to political pressure from the White House and the Washington press corps?   Continue reading “Where the Rubber Meets the Road (On Illegal Immigration)”

Obama Declares War! (On Alaska)

Finally, Obama has declared war, not on tyrants like Iran’s Ali Khamenei  or bullies like Russia’s Vladimer Putin, or even the Islamic militants who are dedicated to our destruction.  No, Obama has declared war on Alaska!

On Sunday, just days after Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, released a bill that would permit drilling in a small area in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the president launched a cruise missile in her direction, aimed at locking up the vast oil reserves in the area forever.

Through his minions, the president announced plans to set aside another 12 million acres in ANWR as “wilderness” which would effectively eliminate any chance of utilizing this valuable resource.

If there is any issue that unites Democrats, Republicans and Independents in the state, it is opening a small — teeny is more like it — area of ANWR’s costal plain for drilling.   Continue reading “Obama Declares War! (On Alaska)”

How to Get Beyond the State of the Obama Union

President Obama delivered his 6th State of the Union message to a Congress which is now completely controlled by Republicans.  In case you missed it, here is a brief synopsis:

“I fixed the economy (wages are stagnant and the work participation rate is a paltry 62.8 percent, the lowest since 1978) so it’s time to let the good times roll. I’m giving away free ice cream and we’ll make the rich pay for it.  Now who wants free ice cream? “

Before you grab your dish and line up for a scoop, let me warn you.  You may not get the flavor you want or need and, in the end, it will cost you more than you ever thought you would pay.   Continue reading “How to Get Beyond the State of the Obama Union”
