A Christian Response to the Border Crisis

The current crisis at the border due to the influx of thousand of young people and some children has tugged at our heartstrings and rightfully so.

The U.S. is a welcoming country.  We grant permanent legal status to a million applicants a year and temporary visas to countless others as tourists, students or the much abused H-1B program where businesses import workers claiming they can’t find qualified U.S. citizens to fill their job requirements.  In addition, we admit thousands more as refugees fleeing persecution based on religion, race, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group.

Despite what you may have heard, the illegals crossing our southern border do not fall into the refugee category.  Most are from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.  The problems in these countries are nothing new.  All of these governments receive aid from the U.S. but they are inept and fraught with corruption. The Border Crises in the U.S. and Israel

The border crises in the U.S. and Israel are not that complicated.  Draw on your parenting experience and follow me.

You have two siblings who are fighting.  The younger one is injured and comes running to you for help.  You punish the older child, but despite all your efforts at peace making, this scenario is repeated again and again until you finally discover that the younger one is the real aggressor.  He picks on his peaceful, larger brother until the older boy can stand it no longer and finally retaliates in an attempt to put an end to the conflict.  The younger brother’s reward is seeing his older brother punished.  And, yes, it is worth the occasional bloody nose.

The problem is solved when the younger one is finally held accountable and punished for his misdeeds.   Continue reading “The Border Crises in the U.S. and Israel”

A Billion Reasons to Stop Illegal Immigration Now

President Obama has requested $3.7 billion dollars to deal with the influx of illegal immigrants crossing our borders, many of them minors.  It is no secret that this administration has, in fact, put out the welcome mat by refusing to enforce many of our immigration laws and ignoring others.

The president has all the authority he needs to send these people home immediately.  The William Wilberforce Act, which Obama has used as an excuse to allow this crisis to continue, has a provision that allows him to limit its application in “exceptional circumstances.”  If this isn’t an exceptional circumstance, I would hate to see one. Real Immigration Reform: What’s Missing

We have a crisis on our souther border.  President Obama’s solution is to ask Congress for $3.8 billion dollars to process and care for these children who are illegally crossing into our country at an unprecedented rate.  This, of course, would only be a down payment because, if these children aren’t immediately returned to their home country, thousands more will be on their way.

Meanwhile, Obama is flying the children, many of whom are sick and diseased, around the country and dumping them in selected communities without so much as a warning to local officials.

This must stop, not only for the good of the country, but for the welfare of these children!  Obama’s policy and lack of enforcement are causing poor Central American parents to put their children into the care of smugglers in hopes of using them as anchors into the United States.  Sadly, many of these young people are mistreated and raped along the way!   Continue reading “Real Immigration Reform: What’s Missing”

Obamacare’s Contraceptive Mandate (The dirty little Secret)

Democratic operatives and radical feminist groups have been hyperventilating since Monday’s  Supreme Court decision which allows Hobby Lobby to exclude some contraceptives from its insurance coverage.   It was much ado about nothing.  Burwell v. Hobby Lobby was a  small victory for common sense, but it was a narrowly written opinion that will have no effect on women’s health and little effect on Obamacare’s burdensome regulations.

Hobby Lobby already provides health care coverage to its employees, which includes 16 different types of contraceptives.  The Green family that owns Hobby Lobby only objected to the four birth control methods that are abortifacients:  morning after pills and IUD’s.  In addition to providing generous health care and dental coverage, the company offers a retirement savings plan, Sunday’s off and its base pay is almost twice the minimum wage.

That said, if a Hobby Lobby employee wants the morning after pill she can go to the local pharmacy and pay for it and still come out ahead of most women who are employed by similar retailers.  That why there will be no mass exodus of Hobby Lobby’s female employees.   Continue reading “Obamacare’s Contraceptive Mandate (The dirty little Secret)”

Designer Chruches

The term “Mainline Protestant” has outlived its usefulness.   In the mid-20th Century the mainline denominations represented a majority of all churchgoers in this country.  They were considered “mainstream.” Today, these mainline Protestant denominations could more accurately be called “designer” churches.

Mainline denominations were known for their involvement in their community and the world at large.  As citizens in a democratic republic, they took seriously their responsibility to live out their faith and see that God’s moral values were reflected in our laws.

Not anymore!  Since the 1960’s, the moral values that are unequivocal in the Bible began clashing with the world’s values.  Slowly, issues like abortion, fornication, adultery and homosexuality became subjects of debate within these denominations.

As a result, these mainline churches began drifting away from God’s standards and began designing their own rules of conduct.  That’s when their numbers began shrinking.  Today, these designer churches are not only a minority among all Christian denominations, but a minority among Protestant churches as a whole. Nero Fiddled; Obama Putts Around

The Emperor Nero may have gotten a bum rap.  It is believed this ancient leader fiddled while a great fire burned his Rome to the ground in A.D. 64, but the fiddle, or violin, hadn’t been invented yet.  Nevertheless, Nero did consider himself a serious musician.  Most likely the fiddling was simply a metaphor for his bad judgement, insensitivity and ineffectiveness.

Obama showed some of these same traits last weekend when he jetted to southern California for a commencement address, which was an excuse to spend a long weekend playing golf at two exclusive resorts in Palm Springs, barely squeezing in a fundraiser.

Now I don’t resent the president taking a little me-time or using his taxpayer-funded high-priced transportation to have a little fun, but if ever there was a time to stay in the White House Situation Room, this was it.   Continue reading “Nero Fiddled; Obama Putts Around”

Poor Pitiful Hillary

It took “a village” to write Hillary’s latest tome, but it may take a city-sized team of professionals to get her out of this latest debacle.

In the acknowledgements for “Hard Choices” Hillary credits her “book team” for “making sense of her scribbles.”  Nevertheless, this experienced politician committed a colossal blunder in one of the first interviews to promote her latest memoir, which is seen as a dry run for her 2016 presidential campaign.

One wonders how ABC anchor Diane Sawyer managed to keep a straight face Monday night when one of the most pampered women in the world opined:

“We came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt,”  Boohoo!  Sob, Sob! “We had no money when we got there and we struggled to, you know, piece together the resources for mortgages, for houses, for Chelsea’s education. You know, it was not easy.”

Either Hillary thinks the country has collective amnesia or she believes that the America people are so dumb that we have no knowledge of anything except the little bits of information she decides to feed us when it serves her purpose.

The Lady Has Balls

In the race for the Iowa Senate seat being vacated by retiring Democrat Tom Harkin one candidate has balls, a lady.  Those balls have propelled her into the lead in a crowded Republican primary and they just may be enough to take her all the way to Washington.

Make no mistake.  I’m not talking about a transvestite.  Those balls belong to Joni Ernst, a mother of three.   They are not her own.  They are the ones she bragged about taking from the pigs she castrated on her family’s farm in her first 30-second TV commercial.  Continue reading “The Lady Has Balls”

The Abortion King (Just how smart can the smartest man in the world really be?)

Thanks to the staff at Media Research Center, we now know that Warren Buffett, the king of finance, is also the abortion king.

In 2006, the investment guru raised concerns in the pro-life community when he announced a plan to give away his fortune over a number of years with 83 percent of it going to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Buffett has stated that he intends to use most of his money, in his words,  “claim checks on society,”  to make the world a better place.  Then why would he entrust his vast wealth to a foundation that funnels a lot of its resources into abortion and population control?

It’s because abortion and population control are the central issues driving Buffett’s own philanthropic activities.  Yes, on the abortion front, it now appears that Mr. Buffett has left the Gates in his dust.
