The Syrian Refugee Grinch in the White House

Cold, heartless, cruel, callous, merciless, hard-hearted! Those are just a few of the words that have been used to describe Republicans and others who want to put the brakes on President Obama’s plan to resettle thousands of Syrians fleeing their war-torn country here in the United States.

Resettling those people constitutes a grave threat to our country given the fact that it is impossible to adequately vet them. Nevertheless, our hearts go out to these people and quite naturally we want to help.

So here is the question for bleeding-heart liberals who want to throw caution to the wind and bring plane loads of these people here to the United States: Would you like to help 10,000, which is Obama’s plan for the current year, or 610,000 of them? USA on Slavery’s Slippery Sloap

The average life of a democracy is 200 years. Our country has outlived its expiration date largely because it is a democratic republic with a constitution that guarantees our citizens certain inalienable rights and a government with three co-equal branches, each with checks on the other two.

We are now seeing those basic rights eroded by an aggressive Supreme Court. We also are seeing those checks and balances upset by an equally aggressive president and a Congress that is reluctant to use the power at its disposal.

Furthermore, the financial stability of this nation has been undermined by our elected representatives who have learned that the best way to stay in office is by spending our money and doing favors for their supporters.

As a result, our economy is at a near standstill and we are mired in debt. China is bullying us, but we owe so much to that communist country there is really nothing we can do about it. This has to stop before it is too late because, as the Bible says, “The borrower is the slave to the lender.”

What is Democratic Socialism?

Bernie Sanders, a socialist, has achieved quite a following in the race for the Democratic nomination for president. How many of his followers really know what he stands for?

There was a telling moment in the first Democratic presidential debate in which Anderson Cooper tried to pin him down. It took several tries but Cooper finally backed him into a corner when he said, “You don’t consider yourself a capitalist, though?”

Sander’s final answer to that simple question was, “No I don’t.”

Who’s Lying in the Senate?

On Friday, Ted Cruz created quite a stir went he broke protocol on the Senate floor and accused Mitch McConnell of lying.

If that is true, and it appears it is, we now know that the majority leader has a lot of company. I will offer proof that all of the Democrats and about half of the Republicans are guilty of the same thing.

Have your senators talked about how they want to rein in corporate welfare and cut out all unnecessary spending? Of course they have! A procedural vote to allow the highway bill to move forward with an amendment that would reauthorize a little-known government agency, the Export-Import Bank, proves it. http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=114&session=1&vote=00254

It also proves that there are far more Democrats infected with corporate greed than Republicans, but unfortunately the GOP Senate leader is among them. McConnell made a big show of voting against allowing the amendment to advance. However, he is the one who orchestrated the vote. His corporate donors got the message. It’s hypocritical!

If you don’t know if your senators should be retained or not, this vote should make it abundantly clear. McConnell, and every senator who voted “yea” is cheating on us. They are robbing taxpayers to pay off their corporate cronies.

Why Donald Trump’s Star Is Rising (He’s Our Bernie Sanders)

Some are baffled that Donald Trump has ridden a sea of controversy to the top of the polls of GOP presidential candidates.

The same head-scratching is going on in Democrat circles over the irascible Bernie Sanders who is now within striking distance of their crown princess, Hillary Clinton. How could this aging socialist threaten the planned coordination of their queen?

These two men are as far apart on the political spectrum as any two candidates can be, but they do have one thing in common: bad hair. Is America really yearning for a fright wig or a comb-over?

Why Women Are Easy Prey for Liberal Democrats

With President Obama as welcome on the campaign trail as brownies at a meeting of Weight Watchers, and his policies as popular as Bach at a bowling alley, Democrats can be forgiven for rolling out the old “war on women” thing. After all, it’s their ace in the hole, a proven winner when it comes to stirring up the electorate and getting out the vote.

“Those mean old Republicans want to take away your birth control, keep your wages below that of your male counterparts,” and did I hear, “deny your right to vote”? Surely that must be in there somewhere.

Can’t blame them because they have been sewing these bad seeds for so long, it’s little wonder they are hoping that some still will bear fruit.

You really can’t blame women for falling for this gambit. It’s not that women are dumb or that few take the time to research these charges that are thrown about like so much confetti before every election. It’s just that most women are simply doing their best to survive in what is fast becoming a socialist, feminist utopia.

Why I left the Democratic Party

Recently, I received an email from a former television colleague. I’ll call him Jack (not his real name). Jack lamented the recent events in Ferguson, Missouri, and invited me to read and post on his blog. It had been years since we’ve had any direct contact, but I have great respect for this man. Therefore, I went to Jack’s blog and began reading. It sickened me, so much so that I was, for one of the few times in my life, speechless.

It was one of the worst biased political rants I have ever seen.

It began with a personal story. As a young photographer, Jack covered a race riot in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where he discovered that the local police chief had sent officers in blackface to stir up the rioters so he could crack down on them. After that, the “chief” ran for Congress as a Republican and won.

I don’t doubt Jack’s veracity. However, it was as if time has stood still for him. Therefore, he believes all Republicans (and tea party members and other conservative-leaning organizations like the Heritage Foundation) to be racist. Continue reading “Why I left the Democratic Party” →

Why Americans have no confidence in Republicans

Conversation overheard on a street near the nation’s Capitol building.

Person 1: (In a panic) What was that loud boom? Was it an earthquake? A sonic boom? Are we under attack? Where is the nearest fallout shelter?

Person 2: Don’t worry. It’s just the sound of Republicans caving. You’ll get used to it after a while. It occurs quite often, especially around this time of year. Relax.

Yes, it’s an all too familiar sound in Washington, D.C. No one is surprised by it.

You may not be able to hear the boom or feel the tremors emanating from Washington, D.C. from your spot hinter lands, but the results are felt by every American: a sluggish economy, joblessness, higher prices, stagnant wages, vacant buildings and ailing businesses. It IS all about the Platform (not the Personality or the Party)

I find it a bit ironic that leading Democrat spokespeople are now downplaying the importance of their party’s platform, particularly since they spent a good portion of last week talking about the “extreme” Republican Platform.

The truth is this election, and every election, is all about the platform. A platform is to the candidate, what the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are to the United States of America. The platform is what each candidate is all about, what he supports and promises to do if elected to assume (or continue in) the role of the nation’s chief executive. The question for voters in the 2012 election is not, “Whom do you trust?” but, “What do you trust?” It’s not about Obama versus a Republican candidate, regardless of who he or she may be. It’s about your basic philosophy of government.
